Connecting the Anzali Port Complex to the National Railway is on the agenda

The Governor of Gilan considered the launch of the North-South Corridor to be very vital for Gilan Province and noted: Efforts should be made to launch this corridor as soon as possible, and connecting the Anzali Port Complex to the national railway is also on the agenda.

According to Tin News, quoting ISNA, Asadollah Abbasi stated today, October 2, in the Non-Oil Export Development Working Group of Gilan Province: The brand of Gilani quality products must be preserved, and agencies such as customs, highways, standards, etc. that serve economic actors should remove obstacles by creating a single window and facilitate their activities.

Abbasi continued: The path must be paved for exporting goods at the lowest cost, time, and distance, and by completing the railway route and launching the North-South Corridor, trade, transit, and national economy exchanges must be strengthened and dependence on other countries reduced.

He called for increasing capacities in the infrastructure sector and added: After the operation of the Rasht-Anzali railway, the necessary bridges and buildings should be built in the second phase to increase the speed of cargo transfer by rail and eliminate the need for physical presence; this has been done at the entrance and exit of the Qazvin-Rasht freeway.

Emphasizing the need for marketing for Gilan’s export products, Abbasi added: During the trip to Russia, we were able to facilitate the path for exporters of these goods to some extent and introduce Iranian goods to the people of that country, but the achievements of this trip were portrayed in reverse at home.

He continued: Some traders have been more successful in introducing these products and goods in foreign markets; therefore, the path should be paved for them, rather than some agencies discriminating against the entry and exit of goods from the customs terminals in Astara, and in fact, priority should be given to perishable goods such as fruits and vegetables, and ordinary goods should be placed in the second phase.

The Governor of Gilan stated: Combined transportation should not be imposed on the exporter and old ships without refrigeration should not be used to transport these perishable goods. The Shipping and Anzali Free Zone should also call on exporters of perishable goods such as fruits and vegetables to use refrigerated ships to reduce transportation costs.

He called on the executive agencies, including the provincial customs, to prevent multiple lines of trucks at the border entry and exit points by planning and facilitating the work and to take charge of organizing this issue.

Abbasi stated: An order was issued to build a truck park for the customs terminal in Astara, but this issue has not yet been implemented.

He announced the province’s foreign exchange and customs revenue at 55 trillion rials and added: This revenue has been sent to the center, while part of this revenue should be spent on creating the necessary customs infrastructure in the province.

The Governor of Gilan stated: The import rate in Gilan should not be higher than exports due to the ease of procedures for entering and exiting goods from the borders of other provinces, and exports should be facilitated by eliminating discrimination, reducing the time for issuing permits by the General Directorate of Standards, as well as making the process of assigning trucks to the General Directorate of Highways and Road Transport more intelligent, and facilitating customs procedures from the borders of Gilan.

Abbasi emphasized the establishment and strengthening of interaction and cooperation between chambers of commerce and cooperatives, and said: Currently, the cooperative companies of the border residents have deviated from their path and goals. These cooperatives must be organized and examined in the meeting of the provincial cooperative council.

He considered the launch of the North-South corridor to be very vital for Gilan province and noted: Efforts should be made to launch this corridor as soon as possible, and connecting the Anzali port complex to the national railway is also on the agenda.
